After decades—even centuries—of traditional mission activity in Japan, it’s evident that there is a need for non-traditional approaches for reaching Japanese people. But as one national partner put it, “Japanese churches don’t want to promote or fund an out-of-the-box ministry idea until after it is already successful. Pioneering a new approach is hard.” And raising funds for Japanese ministries can be especially challenging, because Japanese churches are typically far fewer, far smaller, and less affluent than US churches. That’s why we’re raising funds to cover ministry expenses for Japanese Christians who are employing creative approaches to evangelism, discipleship, and mentorship. Contributing to this project helps us pioneer more effective ways of reaching the people of Japan.
